I am a resident of the Liberty Square subdivision in New Lenox. I am opposed to the sale of the EJ and E railway. This sale will do irrepairable damage to New Lenox and any other community that this railway passes through. There are no overpasses over these tracks for emergency vehicles to use. Traffic will be backed-up for long periods on the main roads that cross thse tracks. The two worst issues are the increased probability for hazardous material spills, which willhappen. I say this because companies do not maintain their facilities as good as they should because it costs too much. And in time thses tracks and roadways will deteriorate and fail. That is a fact of life. These conditions will cause our property values to plummet. This is my other area of concern. Residents in this are work hard and long to try make a better life for their families. If this sale goes through, it will a serious blow to their efforts and dreams for the future of their families.
