As a homeowner living approximately 1/2 mile from the EJ&E tracks that are proposed to be acquired by Canadian National Railway, I'd like to voice my concerns and strong objection to this acquisition. The stated purpose of the purchase is to route traffic around Chicago and in so doing, they would increase the traffic on the railroad by 3-4 times. When addressing the increased wait time at all the at-grade crossings, the answer was that they would run the trains at full speed. Naperville, which runs adjacent to the tracks, and cross at Wolf's Crossing, 91st Street and 83rd street near our home, this adds significant noise level and traffic risks. Naperville is currently building a new High School on the west side of these tracks but will be busing students from the east side, in all cases across at-grade crossings. This is a great safety risk to our children. Faster moving trains mean less time to stop, especially with our young drivers. This acquisition should not be approved on the basis of safety, noise pollution and the additional delays it will cause for all traffic traveling east and west over the tracks. Please, do not approve this proposal.
