Comment EI-5778

Received or sent (printed as 2/25/2008)

At this time I whole-heartedly applaud the CN for making the attempt to secure the holdings known as the EJE RR. My only attempts to persuade the Stb from allowing this revolves around the fact that the EJE has some awesome buildings and structures as well as land rights that might very well be considered for preservation, I would like to see that the existing roundhouses at Gary,Indiana (Kirk Yard) and Joliet,Illinois (Joliet Yard) be preserved forever along with their turntables. Other structures would be the station houses all along the right-of-way to be restored to their historic origins. When the STB allows the CN to take control I hope that the leadership of the CN takes full advantage of the possibilities that lay there before them, with the STB directing the possible outer rim (if you will) connecting the legs that reach out from Metra and just as has been proven by Metra passenger service and freight service sharing the same trackage. I hope the STB allows for the CN to expand its trackage on the existing EJE to double or even triple track which will help with safe and expedient rail service from Waukegan,Il. to Gary,Ind. Thank You.
