I would like to protest the approval of the Canadian National Railroad to purchase the EJ&E Railroad. The increase in freight traffic on this track would cause a great increase in the current auto traffic gridlock within our community. I must cross the EJ&E rail crossing on Old McHenry Rd in Hawthorn Woods a minimum of twice daily in order to travel to my place of employment in Deerfield, IL. The additional stoppages at the various EJ&E crossings within this community would cause tremendous delays, adding to the air polution because of ideling auto engines. It would delay emergency services such as fire, ambulance, police, etc. which could have a serious impact upon the protection of local citizens. I ask you to give SERIOUS thought and concern for the local citizens of the Lake Zurich area as you review this purchase by a foreign company.
