I am concerned with the idea the Amtrak service in/out of Effingham IL could be altered or worst stopped. When you have a 4 hour drive to Chicago why drive and pay gas, parking and seek parking when you can hop onto the train and walk the city. It will hurt those who cannot afford a car/insurance and attend school in southern Illinois, or Champaign or even Illinois State, Normal IL; and IL Wesleyan, Bloomington IL; the colleges in Springfield IL, etc. The big business does not think the small side of things so they don't care about those who need things the most to survive. With the Mattoon IL area being told they have the new energy facility, the city's of this country vied for, they worked 5 years on getting, only to be told recently, they now will not get it. There are many small towns that the people rely on using. Please voice the need to help the people of Illinois stay connected. It will be good for the Gov. of IL to ride the train to Springfield instead of fly.(Cheaper??) Please help those in Illinois. Thank you for taking time to read these messages and remember the small people.
