As a citizen of Aurora, IL living two blocks from the train tracks to be acquired by CN Railway, I am completely against this proposal for many reasons. 1. This significant increase in trains will obviously cause more traffic congestion and noise pollution to an already highly populated, vehicle-reliant area. 2. The tracks and crossing right near my house, and for several miles north and south, is at street-level. There are families with children all around these tracks and there is a YMCA field house on the corner of this same crossing that hosts many youth activities. An increase in trains is an increase of safety concerns for children and for anyone driving over the tracks. Plus, some materials carried by CN are toxic and could be harmful in the event of an accident. 3. Home resale value will decrease with additional trains and noise from the CN trains. 4. I understand that this sale could put an end to the talks about the much-needed Metra Star line. This acquisition is bad for all of the people who live along and around these tracks.
