I am writing to express my STRONG opposition to the proposed aquisition of EJ&E rail by CN Railway. My reasons consist of the following: 1. Increase of rail traffic causing excessive traffic congestion. The railroad crossing is right by my house and the road that it crosses is virtually the only way out of our neighborhood. Today when trains cross, traffic backs up into the streets of our subdivision. Also, Bartlett is consructing a new fire station on the other side of the tracks from our subdivision. The increased rail traffic would cause emegency response delays. 2. Increased noise pollution. Each train that travels through the crossing blows it's horn and is generally very loud. We knew this when we moved into the house, but the increase in the number of trains per day will make the situation much worse. 3. Decrease in air quality. It's clear by looking at trains that they produce a significant amount of air pollution. I don't have the scientific data for this, but with my son having asthma, any increase in air pollution is detrimental to our quality of life. 4. Risk of toxic material spills. Some of these trains will be carrying toxic materials. The fact that they would be travelling right next to our neighborhood, means that there is an increased risk of some type of toxic spillage. This is not what I want moving around so close to where I live. 5. Decrease in home value. It seems obvious that my home value would decrease as a result of these negative actions. Overall, the changes proposed by this aquisition would have a VERY negative impact on my neighborhood and community. I urge you to seriously consider this when reviewing this matter. Thank you for your consideration in this matter and for the opportunity to express my concerns. Sincerely, Brian Brands
