I am extremely concerned about the impact of the proposed Canadian Nat'l Railroad purchase of the EJ&E Railroad. 1) There are several at grade crossings in this highly populated/travelled area of southwest Naperville & Aurora. These crossings at Wolf's Crossing, Hafenrichter and Montgomery Road are already unsafe. With an increase in train traffic, there is more risk for accidents. These crossings must be improved. 2) Traffic congestion - These roads are already congested and become miserable when trains pass these crossings today. With an increase in train traffic, these roads will become very clogged. Traffic already backs up for a mile at some crossings when trains come through. (This will also have a ripple effect into other problems, as there will undoubtedly be an increase in the number of cars trying to go around the gates to beat the train." 3) My family utilized Rush Copley hospital and needs to cross these tracks to get there. In an emergency situation, there is no other alternate route to the hospital without crossing these tracks. Every second counts in an emergency. 4) I am concerned about the toxic waste that would be transported on this line. Within a 2 mile vicinity, there are many schools that would be endangered by a toxic waste spill: Peterson Elementary, Wolf's Crossing Elementary, Wolf's Crossing Middle School (Oswego), Fry Elementary, Scullen Middle School, White Eagle Elementary, Crone Middle School. Please take these concerns seriously. The safety of our children is at stake."
