I, as a resident of Frankfort, am highly concerned with and opposed to the CN acquisition of the EJ&E railroad. The increase in train traffic would be a huge detriment to my family's quality of life and my personal peace of mind. The factors that concern me most is the safety issues that arrise (increase in hazardous materials transportation, close proximity to schools and church, close proximity to high tension wires, the age of the overpass over route 45, potential increase in response time for emergency vehicles), and the significant increase in noise that will result. The noise level from the existing trains (loud engines and train whistles) at all hours of the night is already just barely tolerable. But to have this increase would deffinitly be intollerable. If approved, I hope with all my heart that something can be done to lessen the impact. As I currently see the situation, grade seperations at all crossings should be demanded. and at the very least, barriers or quiet zones implemented.
