My wife and I are extremely concerned about the proposed sale of E.J.& E Railroad to Canadian National (CN). We live on Well St., which is about 100 yards south of the RR. The environmental impact on our lives and the lives of other citizens will be extremely negative if CN increases the number of trains to 32 per day. The pollution from the engines coupled with the noise they generate would be harmful to our health. Currently, the movement of traffic around the Western Avenue crossing impacts our community on a daily basis with trains blocking this main artery for up to an hour or more per day with 8 trains. Multiplying this by 4 could mean the road might be virtually closed and possibly make this road impassible for 4 to 6 hours per day! This is completely unacceptable. We are asking that this proposal be blocked as soon as possible.
