I live in the Chicory Place subdivision in Aurora approximately one mile from an at grade crossing on 83rd St/Montgomery Rd and also at Ogden Ave. If the Canadian National Railway takeover of EJ&E railrod is allowed to proceed as currently planned, train traffic will increase at least 3 times the amount we currently experience. I am very concerned about this for several reasons. 1. Safety - these crossings are already congested and will only increase. We have a high school with 36 bus routes very close by and several elementary schools that also need to cross these tracks. There are already a set of crosses next to the tracks on Ogden where two teenage boys were killed. 2. Increased emergency response time - with more traffic, emergency response time will increase greatly to all of the homes in the surrounding areas possibly causing loss of life and property. 3. Noise level - As it is, a mile away, we hear the train horns blasting in the middle of the night, even with the windows closed in the middle of winter. 4. Property values - The addition of train and car traffic in this area will negatively affect property values in our community. Thank you for your time. Kristin Miceli 12 year Aurora resident and mother of 2 small children attending school in district 204.
