Surface Transportation Board: Re: The proposed Canadian National Railway acquisition of the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway; FD 35087 The proposed acquisition referred to above would impact motorized traffic north (on IL Route 59) and west (on Lake-Cook Road) from downtown Barrington, Illinois, due to the fact that the railway circles the town of Barrington to the north and west. Since the community hospital (Good Shepherd Hospital) is northwest of Barrington, increasing railroad activity on the proposed tracks could diminish emergency ambulance traffic from Barrington to the hospital.
