We live close to Ogden Avenue (Route 34) between Frontenac Street and Long Grove in Aurora, Illinois. The proposed forty-five trains in a 24-hour period works out to be one train every 53 minutes. It takes roughly 10 minutes for a train to go through the crossing which means the next train will go through in 43 minutes. The Kinder-Morgan gas pipeline runs parallel to the tracks -- roughly 300 feet away -- which transports natural gas from the Oklahoma area. Trains cause vibrations and I believe it caused a gas leak at the pumping station on Ogden Avenue awhile back. I had to call them to come out to fix it. The trains we have now impact the transportation of emergency vehicles going to Rush-Copley Hospital as well as the Fire Department and police vehicles, and people rushing someone to the hospital due to an emergency. Our house is on the other side of the gas pipeline and we feel our house vibrate when the trains pass through now. Who is to say they will not add more trains in the future. Also, we do not know what the trains will be carrying - toxic materials or dangerous chemicals? There are many family homes very close to those trains - about 100 feet away. I'm sure more traffic will affect the resale of those homes if we have trains every little while. We, and our neighbors, are very concerned about the proposed escalation of train traffic at our crossing. Thank you, William and Frieda Hampe
