I am concerned with Canadian National Railroad's purchase of the EJ&E railroad. I live in the area within 2 miles of two crossings that do not have bridges over the tracks. I understand train traffic is slated to increase from 15 to 45 trains per day. As it stands now, 15 trains per day at these intersections causes traffic delays and crossing safety. We have lived here for 8 1/2 years and the increased car traffic we have seen during this time, coupled with a 3X increase in train traffic is not acceptable. Many of the east west crossings without bridges are used by thousands of commuters each day. Adding to the already dicey commuting situation isn't good for our children, neighborhoods, and property values. I am also concerned with the increase of noise and air pollution, as well as the ability to get to area hospitals or for emergency response. I have witnessed many a train stopped at the Diehl and Eola intersection - this even before the increased train traffic because of this purchase. Please take my comments into consideration when preparing the Environmental Impact Statement regarding this sale. I am personally against allowing the sale because of the negative impact to my community.
