I am submitting these comments in reference to Finance Docket #35087; the proposed transaction between CN and EJ&E. I am firmly opposed to the transaction for a several reasons; however I will comment only to the profound impact this transaction will have on traffic and residents if allowed to pass. I live about 2 miles east of the railway in question, and find the current traffic from the trains inconvenient, but tolerable. According to CN, traffic can be expected to increase from approximately 15 – 45 trains per day. This is not at all tolerable and will impact the community in several ways: • The horns; it is too much already and I live 2 miles away from the tracks. This will ABSOULUTELY impact our home values. • The likelihood of a train blocking access to the level II trauma center of Rush-Copley hospital, for those east of the tracks, is significantly increased with no bridges available for several miles • Increased traffic delays to a community which is still growing in both residential (248th and Wolf’s Crossing area) and commercial (Rt. 59 and 75th as well as the 75th and Ogden point) development. Major shopping development underway with more commercial development land available. • Large number of students impacted with the track blocking access to Waubonsie Valley High School and Still Middle School will be impacted significantly. SEE ATTACHED BOUNDRY MAP DOCUMENT PAGES 2 & 3. I appreciate you taking the time to read my concerns. Bottom line, the area is too dense already and it is only going to get worse. With no bridges or tunnels and the proposed traffic increase estimates being significant, the proposed impacts associated with this transaction is unacceptable and not feasible.
