I wish to express concerns regarding the acquisition of the EJ&E rail line by Canadian National. First that there are a number of grade crossings which are already inconvenient due to traffic delays at best and dangerous at worst. The increase of trains will significantly increase delays and danger of fatal accidents. I urge that grade separations at major road crossings be a condition of acquisition. Second, there are plans to use the EJ&E for commuter rail. Apparently these plans are in jeopardy as Canadian Rail does not support use for commuter rail. I urge that binding commitment to provide for commuter rail be a condition of acquisition.
