The residents of Matteson (Especially the Historic Older section where the EJ & E Tracks are closest to) are quite concerned with these issues: Increased train traffic by 5 fold-Longer trains-Hazardous materials-2 tracks merging into one resulting in trains running and waiting-Trains blocking major North/South streets isolating Old Matteson, especially when two viaducts on Rt. 50 (Governor's Hiway) flood frequently-Our Level 1 Trauma Center (St James of Olympia Fields) for the entire Southern suburbs is less than two miles from these tracks that could be tied up many times a day with train traffic, causing ambulances to wait or take longer routes to the Trauma Center.
