The proposed increase in rail traffic on the EJ+E line through Barrington and surrounding communities poses significant safety risks. As a Father of 5, with two new drivers, I have grave concerns about the 15-fold immediate increase in rail traffic that my young drivers will encounter whchever way they leave our neighborhood--especially for their 2x daily trips to and fromt eh high school. Doubling up the train lines will also have a negative impact on locatl wetlands near the highschool (behind the Quaker property) as well as through Cuba Marsh. Safety concerns have also been noted by opthers, including the inability for rescue and fire and police officers being able to travel around stopped trains, or for my family to get to the hosptal in now-more-likely event of a train stopped along the tracks. A final concern is for the transport of petro chemicals and other noxious liquids and compounds to travel through our community. We have many houses right along the tracks (including mine) and the new threat of toxic substabces (as outlined on CN's website) as well as CN's record of reducing staff while seeing higher accident and disaster rates, is a grave concern for me, my family, and my community. Please do NOT allow the destruction of our village and the threat of increaed noxious rail traffic to come forth. Say No" to CN's bid. Thank you."
