I am very concerned about the CN takeover of EJ&E and the negative impacts that construction and increased operations will have on our communities and children. We currently live west of the railway and this will severely impact our ability to cross the tracks to many of our daily activities in a timely manner. We currently wait approximately 12 minutes for each train that blocks our crossing. In addition, we currently hear enough noise from the horns of the current train volume. Increased volume will further increase the noise in our neighborhood. Lastly, the potential for carrying chemicals at an increased volume is very scary considering how many children are in the area. The local elementary school is less that 1/2 mile from the railway. I know this will relieve congestion in Chicago, but our suburbs are not prepared for this volume and there are reasons why we are out in the suburbs to begin with.
