I have been a resident of Bartlett for 30 years. I live on the east side of town. I only recently heard of the proposed acquisition of the EJ&E railroad by CNR. My concerns are in line with those of other residents. I am sure that you are aware of them. Pollution of all types, risk of hazardous materials spills, traffic flow, the progress of the Star Line, emergency fire and police response times to the west side of town, etc are all issues that I am certain have been voiced by many others. Even though I live a distance away from the railway, the prospect of it all disturbs me. Most of Bartlett's industry is on the west side of town. People struggled in order to purchase homes out there thinking that they were going to be a part of a wonderful community. But it seems that the west side of Bartlett really isn't connected with the east side. There is so much going on out there between the industrial park, the quarry, etc. This would just devastate residents out there. Not only is there the obvious concerns that I mentioned above, but property values would be adversely affected.
