We have many concerns regarding the proposed sale of the EJ&J railway to Canadian Railway. Our main concern is the environmental impact on our communinty. This area is surrounded by wild life and forest preserves. The contents of the trains will be hazardous to the environment, especially in the case of accidents. Currently, every year there are accidents with the current train traffic. Every year we see new crosses erected at the tracks where children are killed. Another concern is real-estate values of our homes. In an already declining marked this sale will cause Naperville, Aurora & Plainfield and other towns greater depreciation in prices. Another concern is the increased traffic. Most crossings are at street level and are at main roads that connect western suburbs to schools and hospitals. This sale will have a drastic impact on the local economy. If this sale is to go through the Canadian Rail Co. must be willing to spend millions in creating underpass/bridges for main artery roads.
