I am a resident of Hoffman Estates and my homes property line is approx 60 feet from the EJ&E RR right of way. My concerns with this purchase are: 1. that CN will have approx 25 trains a day (equivelint to round the clock rail traffic)on train tracks that were not meant for this amount of rail traffic. 2. I am concerned about CN's poor accident history and the potential for hazardous waste spills. 3.I am concerned about the potential increased cost to the tax payers to upgrade crossings to accommodate this greater amount of rail traffic. 4. Tha savings does not justify the means. Savings of 2 days of transportation time does not seem to justify the safety risk of 100's of thousands lives. 5. Our area is no longer corn fields it is suburbia, with a growth along this RR in our community alone of over 1000 homes in the last 10 years. 6. Our neighborhood park - Cannon Crossing intersects with the tracks and has no safety protection for the children. This park is utilized around the clock in summer and is associated with the Elementary School next to it. So kids are playing here year round. 7. Our cook county Forest Preserve also surrounds this RR, with walking paths and bike trails crossing these tracks. 8. The enormous emount of wildlife that travels through and over these tracks daily. This is a long documented wildlife trail. I provided you with pictures at the Barrington meeting. From Jan through April daily I can see up to 10 - 15 deer crossing these tracks at dusk to make their way to the ponds west of the tracks. Just yesterday I had 15 deer in my yard that had traveled west over the tracks. I have more pictures if you would like them. 9. Shoe Factory Road crossing has a trecherous hill when approaching the crossing that you cannot see oncoming traffic not to mention a train. 10. Who will pay for the additional Hoffman Estates emergency facilities that will now need to be located on both sides of the tracks? I don't want to be put into the situation of needing emergency care and the emergency vehicle now needs to take the long way around to the hospital becasue of the potential of being delayed by CN trains every hour. Please consider the safety of the residents in these neighborhoods and the quality of life that will be disrupted all for saving 2 DAYS of transportation time. It's just not worth it. It was great talking to you at the meeting. I look forward to that opportunity again if you decide to conduct an on-site visit to our crossing and neighborhood. You are more than welcome to contact me. Regards, Nadine Roach
