RE: EJE purchase - So you think there are no problems with the transaction - so you think you know a FEW people who are opposed - so - after all, it is only Chicago. What arrogance - what gall - what idiocy! You are clearly underestimating the destruction your transaction has the potential for causing to multiple suburban towns and municipalities, to hundreds of thousands of homes and the people who reside in them. We frankly don't give a damn about how fast or efficiently or cost effectively you can move your freight around the inner city. We care about our homes, our property values, our childrens health and safety, our air quality, our already congested roadways and rail crossings, and our quality of life. We don't want you to move hazardous materials through our neighborhoods. We don't want overlong freight trains moving through our towns on the average of one an hour, day and night. We don't want you creating hazards for our ambulances and firetrucks trying to save lives. We don't want the air pollution of your locomotives coming into our homes. I think it is you who has not looked at the environmental impact to our communities. Perhaps for the immediate downtown Chicago area it would be a small improvement, but for the rest of us, and there are many hundreds of thousands of us, it would clearly be an unprecedented disaster. How dare you say that anything about this transaction is a 'little ridiculous'. Be prepared for a fight because we are not going to just close our eyes and look the other way while you destroy our way of life. You are wrong - everything is not about only money.
