I live within 1/4 mile of the at grade crossing of the EJ&E Railway on Odgen Avenue in Aurora, IL. The proposed acquisition of EJ&E by the Canadaian National Railway is of great concern to me based on the severe and negative impact it will have on me and my family's quality of life. The number of cars and trucks that cross those tracks daily are already creating health hazards when they are stopped by trains. The noise and emission of so many idling vehicles creates a health risk to the surrounding area. Additionally, the crossing is already at times gridlocked because of the volume of traffic. More frequent stopping of this traffic will further exaserbate this already frustrating condition. The negative impact of this acquisition on the surrounding areas of the at-grade crossings is not offset by any benefit by the homes, school, or businesses that will be affected. I feel I will be forced to move if this acquistion is approved as it will take me so long to get to work (a 12 mile commute already takes 45 - 50 minutes) I will have to leave with the expectation of being stopped by a freight train. Please do your due diligence in studying the environmental impact this deal will have.
