Comment EI-4729

Received or sent (printed as 1/30/2008)

This letter is in response to the intended merger of the CN Acquisition of the EJ&E railroad. The increase in freight traffic that this would cause would be detrimental to the safety and security of the surrounding communities. The railroad would bring an increase of rail traffic from on average once every 1 hour 20 minutes to every 32 minutes. It runs along the main thoroughfare for residents west of Normantown road, with rail crossings at 111th, 119th, 127th and 135th streets. This would inhibit immediate accessibility to the Edward Hospital Urgent Care facility on 127th as well as dramatically increase rail traffic in the surrounding neighborhoods that are full of children. Traffic is already a concern in this area, with many of the rail crossings only having a stop sign to get across Route 30 as well as Normantown Road. I urge this to be reconsidered due to the increase in environmental issues it would pose, both noise and pollution. An increase of any kind of rail traffic would be a severe danger and safety hazzard for the surrounding communities and subdivisions. Sincerely, Amanda Amburn, Auburn Lakes resident
