To whom it may concern: I recently became aware of the proposed acquistion of Canadian National Railway Company and Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway Company. I am begging you, please do not let this happen. Lots of people will be affected by this, including me and my family. We live only a few blocks away west of the train tracks near West Bartlett Road. unfortunately, most of our hospitals, fire stations, medical personnel, police officers ... are located east of the tracks. We're very concerned about safety. Going from 5 trains a day to 22.5 trains a day is a very SCARY thing to imagine. We're almost assuredly going to get caught by a train at some point. We can only pray that it wouldn't be a life-threating situation. I have a healthy child, and I want it to remain that way. More trains would mean more diesel fuel, which could increase her chances of getting childhood asthma. The extra trains will also make it extremely noisy. We wanted to move to Bartlett and away from the city so that we could get peace and quiet. With 22.5 trains a day and loud sounding horns, how is that supposed to happen? For the above-mentioned reasons, please consider the people that live near the tracks and don't allow the acquistion to happen. sincerely, Liz, Louie and Tina Hondros.
