I am in strong opposition to the proposed acquisition of the EJ&E by the CN and their plans to greatly increase the number of trains. My major concerns which I hope you will address in a comprehensive environmental impact study are: 1. Longer emergency vehicle response times due to grade crossings being blocked by the increased numbers of trains. Will people die enroute to the hospital or their homes burn when fire trucks can't reach them? 2. Safety of our wells (drinking water) due to the increased likelihood of a derailment or accident resulting in a toxic substance spill or leakage. One spill and we will have no water available in our homes. 3. Traffic congestion will be out of control. A single train on the EJ&E tracks now causes severe backups. 5 or 6 times the number of trains will be ridiculous. We won't be able to pickup our kids from school, events, reach stores, etc. 4. A plummeting of our home values due to all of the above issues. Freight train traffic congestion and delay problems should not just be moved to another area. Fix the problem or force the railroads and governments to fix the problems together. Moving the problem is not a solution! I hope you will personally consider the serious negative impact this meager will have on ALL communities along the EJ&E. Many, many will suffer as a result of an easy solution for the CN. Make them go back to the drawing board to come up with an alternative. Thank you for your time- Therese Lancelot
