In regard to the CN acquisition of the EJ&E railroad, please do not allow this to happen. Safety and environmental issues would be compromised. We live in an area near the railroad and there are few roads to allow ambulance, fire, police, school bus service and local traffic. There are also forest preserve areas adjacent to the tracks with a wide variety of wildlife. If, as we have read, an unlimited amount of trains with a length of 2 miles or more were allowed to run on the EJ&J tracks, we would be cut off from safety / life services. Because of the proximity of local communities in the area, one of these proposed trains could easily cut off" 2, 3 or 4 communities at a time. If the trains increase to the number that is anticipated, we could be "closed off" for most of the day and night. It is also our understanding that there would be no restrictions for CN - they can install another track, transport anything they would like, lease the tracks to any other line, for any amount time to transport anything they would choose to transport with no limitations or boundaries. I propose that they not be allowed to buy EJ&J to do as they wish when they wish thereby endangering the communities and wildlife which are adjacent to those tracks. Please feel free to contact me at any time. My home number is above and I can be reached at my office (847.437.6400, x244) during the day. Thank you for your consideration."
