I live in the Liberty Square subdivision just north of the EJ&E tracks. The amount of noise/vibration and traffic delays that will result with 30 plus trains a day coming through is ridiculous. We need noise barriers and overpasses or underpasses for Cedar, Gougar, and Nelson. I believe Canadian National should be responsible to build a landscape berm or noise reduction wall where it will affect neighborhoods that are within ¼ of a mile from the tracks. In New Lenox two of our main roads, Cedar and Gougar having crossings, these need to have an overpass or underpass in place for emergency personnel. Lincolnway School District is building a new high school next to the tracks on Gougar. There needs to be extra safety measures taken at this crossing because of teens driving and the amount of truck traffic that is expected in the future. There should be a limit on the amount of trains a day for these tracks. It's sad that a railroad like Canadian National can come into a village and do whatever they want. The railroad should pay a fee to the village for its use, and the people should get a tax break. I would like to see this purchase stopped completely. It will ruin our community not to mention our property values.
