Ms. Johnson-Ball, As a resident of New Lenox, IL and home owner on the perimeter of Liberty Square subdivision, our backyard borders the agricultural field and then EJ&E Railroad to the south. Referencing Finance Docket number 35087, my wife and I are deeply concerned regarding the negative environmental and economic impact the Purchase of this railroad to a larger conglomerate (Canadian National) may have on our community. We are all aware as homeowners of the noise already in place as trains use the tracks. In fact, my wife and I even observed the frequency, noise pollution, and duration of rail use in our car roadside before deciding on our purchase of 258 Hancock Dr. We carefully weighed the wonderful benefits of moving into New Lenox, Il and into Liberty Square. We believed in the community and its potential to provide a safe and prosperous area for our children against the clear adverse impact of the railroad use and its ultimate effect of undermining property values. Today's environment, however, has changed. It has created another consideration that is highly sensitive to the impact of Finance Docket 35087. We feel the economic impact of consumer inflation on price of our milk and eggs, our diapers, and our gasoline. Even more, the housing market as a whole is declining. Having the purchase of this railroad go through will clearly, quickly, and abruptly decrease home price in the immediate and long term future. Whereas the economy will hopefully continue to prosper in the coming years, our home values will be undermined forever. Please consider this email and a strong argument against the purchase of EJ&E Railroad South of Liberty Square. Thank you in advance for your consideration and family/community centered focus.
