Dear Ms. Johnson-Ball, Residents of the Barrington, IL, area recognize the need to move freight efficiently and cheaply through the Chicago region. However, we are fearful of the enormous economic impact the CN purchase of the EJ&E Railroad will have on our community. Commuter and freight trains already negatively impact traffic so much that the number-one complaint of Village of Barrington residents, in annual surveys, is traffic. All trains that currently cross Barrington do so at grade level. If more trains are added, the pressure of increased congestion will be dangerous and intolerable. Barrington is a desirable, business-minded community with good schools and a strong housing market. Whatever profits CN hopes to realize will not even approach the costs and burdens that will be placed on the taxpayers of Barrington. Thank you for reading my email. Sincerely, Mary Staros
