I am writing in opposition to the proposed acquisition of the EJ & E Rail line by the Canadian National Railroad (CNR). Of all of the trains that currently use the EJ&E line the CNR runs the loudest and longest trains. They operate their trains with little regard for the communities they pass through. If you are stuck a RR crossing it is an overly long, CNR train blocking the road. If you hear a loud engine set with no sound mufflers it is a CNR train. More traffic would have a very negative impact on our community and the already congested traffic routes that cross the EJ&E. Lake County is already struggling with extreme traffic volumes on limited, undersized roads. Increasing freight activity on this line would be in direct conflict with the expressed will of the County residents who have voted for multiple traffic relief measures.
