I am writting in regard to the proposed purchase of the EJ&E RR by the Canadian National RR. This purchase will result in a significant increase in train traffic through the community of Barrington, IL. The traffic issue here is unique in that the EJ&E right of way bisects four different roadways within the Village limits. Three of these roadways are significant arteries, a major Federal Highway (RT 14) a major State Highway (RT 59) and the major east-west thourofare County Line Road. All of these crossings are within a one mile stretch of track. By increasing freight traffic to fifteen or twenty trains a day will result in chaotic traffic environment. Public safty will be adversely affected from the impeding of public safety vehicles and school buses. The STB should halt this traffic expansion or seek to take the tracks below grade at two of the crossings and on a trestle at the third location. I would hope that government could find a way to accomodate commerce and safty.
