I have severe reservations about the proposed purchase of the EJ&E railroad by Canadian National. As a resident of the Barrington area, it is clear to me that the environmental impact here will be significant. Our community is unique in that we have 5 at-grade crossings that run on a diagonal from the NE to the SW. These 5 crossings exist in a relatively short distance, in fact, three of these crossings are less than .8 miles apart. The rail line literally bisects our community in half, and any blockage of thes crosssings will have a significant impact on traffic flow and ultimately safety. Safety concerns are delays in emergency response and a significant increase in risk to the high volume of school bus traffic that traverses these tracks twice a day during school days. I understand that this is a significantly profitable propostion for CN, thus I would expect them to minimally be prepared to help us mitigate the significant safey impact that the increase in rail traffic will have on our community. Thank you for your consideration.
