I am writing in regards to CN proposed purchase of the Ej&J railroad. The tracks run across West Bartlett Rd. in Bartlett. I live close to the tracks and there is 2 elementary schools that are close to the tracks. I am against the purchase of this railway due to many concerns that include: the 500% increase in train traffic (which in turn increases the accidents relating to trains - pedestrian, car accidents, spillage, etc.), the air pollution (I have 2 children with asthma that is controlled - I don't think a railway should push us out of our own house b/c my children cannot breath and enjoy being a kid), the road it crosses over is the main road used to get to the expressways and to the various places within the town of Bartlett (an increase in traffic will cause a lot of problems), enviromental impact (there is a lot of single family homes and schools within a mile of the railway - trains carrying hazardous materials puts our future at risk - our children! Whomever is reading this letter please ask yourself. Would you like to be pushed out of your home due to a medical condition of a family member? Would you like your child to be put at risk if there was a hazmat spill? Would you like your own life be put at risk? Would you want to leave at least 1/2 hour earlier for everything you have scheduled b/c a train may make you late for everything? I would guess your answers to these questions would be no", so why are you putting others at these inconveniences and hazards? Again, I strongly oppose the purchase of EJ&E railroad from CN. It is not beneficial for anyone involved other than the owners, which are just greedy money hungry bastards with no conscience. Thank you for your time and consideration to this proposal. Sincerely, Darla Tolva"
