I am writing to register by deep concerns regardinig the Canadian National Railway's takeover of the EJ&E Railroad. My deep concerns are as follows: 1. The elementary school in my neighborhood is extremely close to the railroad tracks. It is my understanding that hazardous materials will be transported and pose a potential diaster should the train de-rail next to the school. If this sale were approved, what measures would be put in place to insure the children's safety? 2. Traffic along this route would be severly compromised. Most importantly, it would delay response time for Emergency Services. It will also cause severe traffic conjestion. 3. What impact would this sale with the increased traffic have on the surrounding environment? Obviously, noise and pollution will increase. What negative impact will that have on the health of the families whom live very near the track? 4. It is my understanding that this sale will most likely put an end to the STAR line that has been proposed and talked about for years. How sad would that be when we should be conserving fuel for future generations. The STAR line would reduce individual fuel consumption for the greater good of this country. I urge you to consider seriously that if this sale were to be approved, serious consideration should be addressed on how to fund the above mentioned concerns for the greater good of many. Thank you.
