STB Finance Docket No. 35087 The proposed increase in trains of the Elgin Joliet and Eastern railroad will severely increase traffic congestion in the village of Barrington. The freight trains are already three times longer than they were 6 months ago. When they stop on the line waiting to clear the Union Pacific Metra rail line, they are so long that they block both the Ela Rd. and Cuba Rd. crossings. My wife and I both have been stopped on seperate occassions for up to 15 minutes as the trains park waiting to get OK to cross the Metra line. What will happen when they have four times as many trains that will likely be even longer will be completely overwhelming to our already oversaturated road system. The E, J and E tracks run through the center of town and this will cut off half the town from the police and fire station in a way that we have never experienced. This increase will be devastating to our local downtown bussinesses. It is already well know that you can't drive down Northwest Highway, Main Street and Route 59 any time around rush hour. This proposal shows a complete lack of understanding of our community. Please do not allow this to happen as would coolapse our already overwhelmed streets not to mention the fire and saftey issues.
