This is a response to the final assessment of the Candian Railway aquistion of the Elgin, Jolietm Eastern railway( FD-35087). People in my neighborhood woule like to go on record stating how disppointed we are in the disission of the STB in approving the transaction. In looking at the final assessment the STB acknowledged serious issues with this transaction (pay for fixes to Ogden Ave and Lincoln Highway crossings as an example) and seemed to ignore them. Also under suspect is the location of the hearings (placing them as far away as possible from the location of the E, J & E tracks and the timing of the release of the final assessment (Christmas Eve). People in our neighborhood are recommending to our local, state, and federal lawmakers that the STB board be reviewed for any wrongdoings in this matter. This disission goes against majority of people, local, state, and federal officials that live and work in the region around the these tracks.
