Canadian National Railway (CN) has proposed to buy the underused Elgin, Joliet and Eastern railroad (EJ&E) which runs around the City of Chicago. This proposal will significantly reduce freight train idling throughout the region, especially in the South Loop." We have may idling trains in my area. At times i don't even want to sit on my balcony because I can smell the exhaust. Reducing freight train congestion is an economic and environmental benefit to the entire region. Many Chicago communities have borne the brunt of freight congestion for years. It’s time for our communities to see some rail congestion relief and for the burden to be balanced across the region. I agree with the proposal."
