Please address the following questions in your continuing analysis of the CN purchase of the E J & E Railroad tracks: 1. What is the worldwide safety record of CN, especially when running trains from its home location in Canada to the US? How has the government of Canada responded to safety concerns related to CN and what has been CN's response? 2. How can an environmental study prepared by consultants hired by CN be independent and unbiased? 3. It is unreasonable to assume that CN, a profit driven corporation, will allow the tracks it currently owns to be underutilized. How long will it take before these tracks are backfilled and the environmental problems just multiplied? 4. The STB looks at the economic impact of the transaction. How do you include and quantify the environmental and social impact (quality of life)of the transaction? 5. How can the degradation of the air, water and soil resulting from increased freight traffic along with the negative impact on the communities' economic viability be figured into the analysis? 6. In a time of corporate bail outs, why does the country want to help a foreign corporation impose massive financial burdens related to remediation of environmental impacts on its citizens? Thank you.
