I am a mom and I'm against the proposed CN purchase of the EJ&E. My children cross over those tracks everyday on the school bus. The buses servicing our area cross over our set of tracks 16 plus times a day, for the high school, middle school, and elementary school. Many of the busses cross over the tracks again at other locations. That many trains, and trains of the propossed length would have many of these children arriving late for school. The emergency response time to our area would be greatly effected by constant train crossings. I have concerns about air quality. I also have concerns about train safety. Our neighborhood already lost one boy that was hit by a train just this past summer. With 20 trains passing a day it makes me worry. If a train ever derailed it would be horrible. Our area borders the forest preserve we would be isolated. How would they handle the clean up? Please put a stop to the CN purchase and protect our families.
