Please reject the CN acquisition of the EJ&E Railroad. You have heard all of the arguments already so I will simply state that I agree with many of the concerns voiced by the people in my community and I believe that the net regional impacts negatively outweigh the transportation benefits. Cities were made to be transportation hubs. The reason people like my family move to the suburbs is to get away from much of the urban congestion and to seek a safe and quiet place to raise a family. The suburbs were never intended to be a commercial rail hub or any other sort of major commercial transportation network and therefore is ill-equipped at the current time to deal with the resulting problems. I am generally not in favor of government getting involved in private business matters and to that end I would say, sure, go ahead and allow the deal to pass. However, if this is done, please please please REQUIRE CN to pay for all mitigation measures needed to maintain the status quo from an infrastructure perspective. We already have insufficient traffic flow and this will make a bad situation worse. Given the economic environment in the state and the nation, we simply do not have the funds necessary to fund a mitigation project sufficient to fix" the problems that will be created by this deal. I urge you to turn it down. However, if you choose to let it pass on the grounds of commerce, please consider the financial implications of the communities involved and their abilities to deal with the problems this deal will leave in its wake. Thanks you for your time and efforts on behalf of all parties and thank you for taking the time to listen to our concerns. Sincerely, Charles R. Dale Barrington, IL"
