Comment EI-14146

Received or sent (printed as 9/30/2008)

I work in Maywood, IL. The tracks running on an angle that cross 22nd St, 1st Ave, DesPlaines Ave, Harlem, 17th Ave, 25th Avenue are used by Canadian National. Trains regularly clog these tracks and surrounding streets bringing traffic to a standstill -severely reducing access to the Level I trauma center at Loyola for emergency crews. In the Lincoln-Way area the EJ&E tracks run perilously close to many subdivisions (even thru one). There is only a single, one lane street (Rte 45 south of US 30), that goes under the tracks. Everything else is surface crossing - hospitals, emergency services are north of the tracks. 20 to 30 trains a day would seriously threaten access to emergency services when needed.
