I am greatly opposed to the Canadian National purchase of the EJ&E tracks that travel through the Chicago suburbs. I am against this for all the reasons that have already been mentioned – congestion, noise, pollution, ground water contamination, public safety, cost, infrastructure, etc… I can offer no new information; information that has already been shared by countless citizens. What I can ask is why… Why should this sale go through? Who benefits? Who suffers? This is a business transaction. A transaction that benefits foreign interests with foreign goods. This brings no equity to the communities it affects. It is not an investment in future payback but a transaction that brings immediate and unwelcome consequences. This business transaction does not have the merits to implement. It only intends to make the suburban corridor its high-speed rail line to move foreign goods through our communities. It brings no benefit to the area. It only represents a win for CN and a loss for suburban citizens and business. A ploy to move foreign goods through our backyards in the attempt to hustle them ever quicker to US ports for export again to other countries. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not turn the EJ&E and our backyards into the Panama Canal for rail traffic of foreign goods. It is your duty to serve the American people first and foreign entities second. I trust in your good decision-making. Deer Park, IL resident
