Please don't allow this deal. It is not a good deal for the American taxpayers of the towns along the EJ&E tracks. The tracks that CN currently uses already has many major crossing improved with overpasses or underpasses. Will the taxpayers money already spent on those be wasted. Are we Americans going to pay for the necessary mitigation for a foriegn company? Has the scheduling of CN's existing lines been looked at to see if anything can be improved before destroying the property values of homeowners and eventually hurting the towns. Another concern of mine is the train bridge over Rand Road in Lake Zurich, is it structually sound to handle the loads CN is predicting? Why are there no rules for railroad companies as far as: Number of trains per day. How much they are responsible for mitigation improvements. How long a crossing can be tied up. The noise level they produce (ex. engine noise, horn noise, wheel bearing noise). There is nothing in this deal that benefits the greater Chicagoland region.
