I am pleading that that the STB reject the planned acquisition of the EJ&E Railroad by CN due to the significant impact this acquistion is sure to have on the safety of our community, as well as the health and well-being of our citizens. CN's acquisition of the EJ&E would ONLY benefit CN at the expense of tax-paying residents who moved to Barrington for its quiet and safe streets. With CN running 20+ trains daily through, at a minimum, three major arteries in our town, our children's lives are put at risk (since there are school crossings along the entire line), and the flow of traffic in and through Barrington will be completely CHOKED -thereby causing businesses to suffer. Additionally, such an increase in train traffic will surely increase the pollutants in the air around the Barrington area - affecting the quality of the air our children breathe. I decided to move to Barrington to afford my children (2 and 2 on the way) the best I possibly can offer them. CN's sole purpose and end for acquiring the EJ&E is GREED. Should the STB accept the acquisition by CN, the message would be clear: STB cares not about citizens but about business and industry . . . AT ANY COST. PLEASE consider both the environmental and safety concerns of our residents and make the right decision. REJECT the proposed acquisition.
