Comment EI-13914

Received or sent (printed as 9/29/2008)

We feel that the E J and E merger with Canadian National Railroad requires serious contemplation, considering it will set precedent for future comperable rail mergers. We believe local communities and the economic and environmental impact needs in depth evaluation. We also feel the lions share of the mitigation should be born by the concern that will benefit. Equally of concern is the business American ports and railroads stand to loose to a foreign entity as a result of this merger, as we fear imports will be taken away from our own American firms. Whom already provide 2 day better service than CN does. Please reject this merger, or require full mitigation. Also please find attached an article for consideration of a new Heartland Fast Freight System, which (should we spend any public funds)be considered as a real solution to a larger national freight flow problem. Thank you again.
