I am very concerned about the proposed acquisition of the EJ&E by CN. I live right by the tracks that would be affected (111th and Normantown road). As it is now we have alot of railroad traffic and noise, if this acquisition goes through we will be in great danger. My children's school is on the opposite side of the tracks and as it stands now getting to them is difficult if a train is passing by, what will that mean in the case of an emergency when the train volume more than doubles? The cost to tax payers will be incredibly burdensome in an already difficult financial environment. There are several multi-million dollar homes right by the tracks, their property value will be significantly impacted in an already difficult market, not to mention the property values of the rest of the middle class that live all along the tracks, we're talking 100s of 1,000s of people. The economic impact this acquisition will have is far reaching. It would be irresponsible for the STB to allow this acquisition to take place. I hope that this body will make the decision based on the good of the people and not because they are in the pockets of the Railroad industry.
