I am strongly opposed to CN's plan to increase rail traffic through Barrington, IL. Our family (including 4 chilren) lives several blocks from the crossing at Rte. 59. Our children walk to the park, the stores, and friends houses on the other side of the tracks. We are extremely concerned about what an increase in rail traffic and the subsequent increase in auto traffic will do to the safety of our children and other pedestrians in the area. In addition, the closest hospital, Good Shepherd is on the other side of the tracks as well. If we or others on this side of town need urgent medical care, the impact of additional trains would be catastrophic to an already slow process for getting through town. The attraction of this town has always been it's small town feel in the midst of an urban area. Additional rail traffic will alter the identity of this town with traffic delays, noise pollution, and safety issues to such an extent as to make Barrington unrecognizable compared to the town we moved into 10 years ago. Please do not allow CN to risk the way of life for so many living in this community.
