The proposed purchase of the EJ&E RR by the CN RR should be denied.At the STB meeting in Gary on 9/10/08 a comment was made that Rte 30 serves as an alternate to I80/94 when it it backed up.On 9/14/08 the area experienced a major rain which resulted in the I80/94 interstate being closed for 4 days due to flooding.Rte 30 served as a major alternate east/west route during this period of time.If the CN RR had been running their 38+ trains per day across Rte30 in LYNWOOD(just west of DYER ,IN) the area would would have had major major traffic problems,(traffic was bad enough without the CN RR).This is just one more reason that the purchase should be denied.
